Leicester in the First World War: The first Gurkha VC Kulbir Thapa (Crystal Clear Creators – HLF Funded Project 2013 – 2014)  Rifleman Kulbir Thapa, VC, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Queen Alexandra’s Own Gurkha Rifles, is the first Nepali who had been awarded the Victoria Cross (VC), the highest gallantry medal of the United Kingdom by His Majesty the King George V for the battle he fought and for saving the lives of his comrades at South of Mauquissart in France on 25 and 26 September 1915. At the time of the War, he was only 26 years old. 

Surrey Heath Museum, CNSUK and the local Nepali community conducted a collaborative project called ‘Nepali Connections’ in 2012. Nepali Connections was an exhibition that celebrated the local Nepali population, both first and second generations, who have made their home in Surrey Heath. The exhibition mainly focussed on Nepal, the Gurkha’s (as Camberley’s history is intertwined with Sandhurst and its military colleges) and people’s experiences of settling in this country. Surrey Heath Museum, CNSUK and the local Nepali community conducted a collaborative project called Nepali Connections in 2012.

Vernacular Religion: Varieties of Religiosity in the Nepali Diaspora (2009 – 2012)   A collaborative project conducted with Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Oxford, looked at the religious practices of Nepalis in the UK, Belgium and in Nepal

The directories, first of its kind, have proved to be useful resources in promoting connectivity among Nepalis and their friends in the UK, publicing profiles of social organizations and their activities, and promoting Nepali businesses in the UK. Also the directories proved to be useful material for researcher.

After successful completion of the “Large Scale Survey of Nepalis in the UK between 2007 – 2010 (popularised as Census)” and subsequent UK censuses, we have been able to establish the size and dynamics of the Nepali ethnic population in the UK. Among others a book entitled, “Nepalis in the United Kingdom: An Overview” has come out from the project. 

British Gurkha Pension Policies and Ex- Gurkha Campaigns: A Review (2012 – 2014) CNSUK carried out a systematic review of British Government’s pension policies and related campaign to fill gap in knowledge and came out with important findings and policy implications. A report entitled, “British Gurkha Pension Policies and Ex-Gurkha Campaigns” was published in 2013.
