In the past decade, the number of people of Nepalese origin in the UK has increased significantly for various reasons, mainly thanks to the newly won resettlement rights of Ex-British Gurkhas in the UK. Similarly, other major Nepalese groups in UK are highly skilled migrants, work permit holders, refugees, British National Overseas and students. Along with the rise in their number, the Nepalese in the UK have gradually started to diversify their activities in an organised manner by opening various social and business organisations.

Despite having various organisations and close relations within the communities, there is a lack ofa reliable source from which information on Nepalese individuals, businesses and organisations can be accessed. In order to fulfil this need to some extent, we are pleased to inform you that CNSUK has taken the initiative to publish this Telephone Directory of Nepalese (Individuals, Businesses and Organisations) in the UK and Year Planner 2010.

We are aware that this directory covers only telephone numbers of a small section of the larger community of individuals, businesses and social organisations. As the saying goes, every long journey begins with one small step; we believe that this initiative can be the foundation for a more detailed directory with wider coverage which CNSUK intends to publish in the future.

Since the directory comes out in the New Year 2010, we also have added a small planner section. We believe that this directory will be useful to us all in the Nepalese and wider community.

As the size of the directory is reasonably small, we decided not to categorise the telephone list according to location or by specialisation. The Individuals’ list is prepared in ascending order according to first name; and only the telephone number and relevant town or city is listed in order to limit people’s details in the publication. Great care has been given to ensure the details are accurate. Any error, nevertheless, therein is highly regretted and will be corrected in the next edition.

We would like to thank those who came forward themselves or consented to include their contacts in the telephone directory. We also would like to extend our gratitude to all our sponsors for making this publication possible. Similarly, we would like to thank various individuals and organisations for helping in collecting information for the directory. CNSUK1 January 2010
