Richard Antony joined CNSUK as a Research Associate in April 2015. Previously, Richard has extensive employment experience ranging from 10 years as a lecturer in Sociology to Researcher with UNDP and other local NGOs in Sri Lanka. He was an Assistant Coordinator in the National Youth Study and as Convenor in the Peace Education project.
He is one of the active team members of CNSUK’S project, exploring – ‘A Comparative study between (young) Nepali and Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora in the UK – Culture, tradition and arts forms’. He has obtained both PhD (Sociology) and MSc (Social Research Methods) from University of Surrey in the UK and also did his four years special degree course – BA (Hons) in Sociology in Sri Lanka – Jaffna University. Richard’s research interests focus on ethnic and racial studies, diasporic youth studies & Identities, media, community development, human rights, peace, reconciliation and comparative South Asian studies. He has also had the privilege of being trained under the leadership of Deshamanya Dr. Ponna Wignaraja on ‘Social Mobilisation’.
