Sabu Padmadas is Professor of Demography and Global Health. He joined the University of Southampton in October 2002 after completing his doctoral and postdoctoral research at the Population Research Centre at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Prior to that, he had been involved in the research on reproductive health indicators, an evaluation study for the strengthening of infrastructure in secondary-level hospitals in Kerala, taking account of the changing patterns of infectious, degenerative and re-emerging diseases, and on the quality of healthcare services and family planning programmes in India.

My primary research interests are in the field of demography, epidemiology and public health. Specific areas include: contraceptive dynamics, reproductive and child health, nutrition (women and children), population projections, life course epidemiology and population health policies.
