The Motilal Singh Master’s Dissertation Scholarship 2026 was officially awarded to Ms. Sirjana Gautam on 22 May 2026 during a special function held at Social Science Baha (SSB), Kathmandu.
This year’s scholarship recipient Ms. Gautam is a Master’s student at Trichandra College, Tribhuvan University. It was awarded through an open competition among eligible applicants, based on assessments of their research proposals, written exams and oral interviews. The outcome reflects her academic potential and commitment to research excellence.
The scholarship was formally handed over by Mr Lokendra Purush Dhakal, Executive Director of Centre for Nepal Studies UK (CNSUK). The event was also attended by Dr Jeevan Baniya, Deputy Director of SSB; Mr Prahlad Adhikari, Associate Professor and Dissertation Supervisor at Trichandra College (TU), and Ms Prabisha Basnet, Researcher at SSB.
Dr Krishna P Adhikari (CNSUK), the founding convenor of the scholarship, will coordinate and provide co-supervision support for the dissertation research on behalf of CNSUK.
Social Science Baha and CNSUK have been collaborating in the administration of the Motilal Fellowship since 2019.
The Motilal Singh Master’s Dissertation Scholarship supports capable students studying in Nepal’s universities, encouraging quality master’s research and contributing toward academic excellence and future scholarship.
